Thiourea dioxide or thiox is an organosulfur compound that is used in the textile industry, photographic industry, leather processing industry and paper, pulp, and board industry. It functions as a reducing agent primarily used in the production of bleached recycled pulp. It’s utilized in Bleaching of stone ground-wood and pressurized ground-wood. It has been used as a photographic toning agent, in hair preparations, as a dry cleaning agent, in the synthesis of pharmaceuticals and insecticides, in boiler water treatment, and as a reagent for bismuth and selenite ions.
