Applications
Sodium sesquicarbonate is used in a variety of applications like to prepare detergents and soap, as an alkaline agent for cleaning, water softening, and leather tanning, as a pH regulator, raising agent, and anticaking agent in foods, and as a corrosion inhibitor for water purification. It is also used as a buffer in cosmetics. It’s utilized in the archaeological: conservation of objects made of copper and copper alloys that have been corroded by salt water. It is also used as a precipitating water softener; it can combine with hard water minerals to form an insoluble precipitate, removing these hardness minerals from the water.
