Applications
Sodium nitrite is commonly used as a reagent, catalyst, and nitrating agent in organic synthesis, and also a co-catalyst in the catalytic oxidation of alcohols. It is used as a color fixative in dyeing and printing textiles, and as an intermediate in metal treatment and finishing. It is also employed in bleaching, photography, rubber accelerators, detinning solutions, greases and medicines.
