Applications

Propylene Glycol USP is used in food and beverage industry as a food additive, emulsifier, solvent, moisturizer, preservative, dispersant, and stabilizer in food products such as bread, ice cream, beverages, processed foods and flavors. It is also used in the pharmaceutical industry as a solvent, moisturizer, and plasticizer in injections, ointments, capsules, pastes and syrups. Propylene Glycol USP is also used in the cosmetic industry as a moisturizer, emulsifier, solvent, and softener in makeup, skin and hair care and cleansing. It is used in the personal care industry as well, as a moisturizer, emulsifier, solvent and softener in personal care products, like creams and lotions. It is also used as a solvent for paints, plastics, pigments, and flavoring agents. It is used in deicing solutions and antifreeze for vehicles and as an antifreeze, hygroscopic agent, and lubricant.
