Applications
The main industrial use of nitric acid is it is used for the production of fertilizers. The other main applications are for the production of explosives, nylon precursors, and specialty organic compounds. It has also been used in various forms as the oxidant in liquid fueled rockets. Nitric Acid is also used in metal processing as an oxidant and used as an analytical reagent in elemental analysis. It is also used in low concentrations in wood working, for artificially aging pine and maple. Nitric Acid is also used in the cleaning industry as an etchant, degreaser and cleaning agent.
