Applications

Preact BG provides a uniform, fast wetting surface which activates and disperses contaminates, drains rapidly, and promotes fast drying of the base metal during the prefluxing process. Use of Preact BG as a top flux produces a very fluid blanket that contacts work surfaces and activates them quickly, permitting easier work entry into the kettle. Use of Preact BG-F as a top flux decreases fuming by producing a foam blanket, which conserves ammonium chloride to provide long lasting activity and reduce zinc spatter.

Flux is used in the hot dip galvanizing process as the final preparation step before the raw steel is dipped in the galvanizing kettle. A properly formulated flux solution will remove any oxidation that formed after the pickling state and form a protective coating to protect against further oxidation before galvanizing. Venator MRD formulates our PREACT line of flux chemicals as a blend of zinc and ammonium chlorides. We offer double and triple salt formulations to meet our customer’s specific galvanizing needs. Both products are available in granular or liquid form and can also be formulated to include a foaming agent to help reduce fuming.
